Hello!

Thank you for being here. If you don’t know me already, my name is Kaye and I am the founder of K for Kids Foundation. Whilst it comes with its challenges, being a small NGO, not having a physical office and being predominantly run by volunteers, we can keep our overheads really low so that we can focus on what matters most - the kids.

I started K for Kids about 7 years ago when I first learned about the thousands of kids in Hong Kong that resided in institutions all over the city. I was shocked to discover that only a small percentage of these kids were orphans and most of them were voluntarily or involuntarily removed from their family and placed into care. Sadly, the situation has not improved since then.

As a parent, I just cannot fathom the pain, trauma and sadness these young kids have to undeservingly endure during their childhood. To me, having a family seems like a basic right, no? So, I asked myself “what can do we to help?”

When I started K for Kids, my sole purpose was to give some love to these kids.  Whilst that is still one of my biggest drivers, as the years have progressed, and the more I have connected with the kids, what I now know to be just as important, is the need to instil hope and empower these kids to thrive.

Unleash their potential and celebrate their greatness.

I strongly believe that we all have the power to create our own bright future, regardless of our backgrounds. We cannot always choose our circumstances, but we can always choose how we respond.  Some of these kids may not see this as a choice right now, so it is up to us to show them that it is.

So, I thank you for being on this journey with me. There is a lot of work to do, but together, we can be the change.

Love,
Kaye
